Citizen Lake Monitoring Network

ERCLA actively organizes volunteers to participate in the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network, which is a partnership of more than 1,000 volunteers around the state working diligently with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to provide the DNR with high quality data about the lakes within the state.

ERCLA volunteers measure water clarity through water sampling that provides the DNR with data about the chlorophyll and phosphorus content of the water, the overall water quality and the water temperature. This data is then used by the DNR to make future determinations such as the long-term ecological trends, water quality parameters, lake assessment and planning, statewide reporting, and national information.

Water quality data for the Eagle River Chain of Lakes can be obtained from the Citizen Lake Monitoring Network portion of the DNR website.
