ERCLA Presents $1000 grant to Homeowners for 2024 WDNR Healthy Lakes and Rivers Projects
Marc Groth, ERCLA Shoreline Restoration Coordinator, presented a $1000 grant to three ERCLA homeowners, the Schulzes and the Rabelhofers on January 18th, and the Petersons on February 17th, for completing their 2024 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Healthy Lakes and Rivers best practices projects. ERCLA sponsored the grant which was submitted to the DNR in November 2023 and approved in March 2024. The three projects were completed this past Summer and early Fall. The Schulzes added a Native Planting to their shoreline on the Wisconsin River. Native Plantings improve wildlife habitat, natural beauty, and privacy, and decrease runoff. The Rabelhofers added a rain garden to their shoreline on the Wisconsin River and the Petersons added a rain garden on their Cranberry Lake shoreline. Rain Gardens create wildlife habitat and natural beauty while capturing and cleaning runoff. ERCLA is interested in helping more ERCLA property owners participate in the Healthy Lakes and Rivers grant program and would enjoy hearing from and working with you. If you would like more information, please email moc.liamgnull@enilnoalcre. We also offer visits to discuss which of the Healthy Lakes and Rivers best practices fits best f or your shoreline.
